Chapter Update!  After years of hard and amazing work, Emily has stepped down as Chapter Leader. She will still be part of the chapter but leadership is passing to Drew Sharpe.  Drew has been part of the chapter since the beginning and hopes to fill Emily's shoes.

Our next meeting will be Monday November 16.  This is a one off Meeting and we will be changing days to the second Thursday beginning in December.  Looking forward to seeing everybody!

October 2014 Meeting Cancelled

Elliott Center at UNCG will be closing early this Tuesday because UNCG is on fall break.  Instead of finding an alternative location this month, the October meeting for the NC Triad chapter of the National Stuttering Association is cancelled.  The International Stuttering Awareness online conference is going on during the month of October at:  http://isad.isastutter.org/.  You can read papers from others who stutter, parents, and professionals in the stuttering treatment/research community.  If you find one that speaks to you, send it to me so we can discuss it at a future meeting.

We are gearing up to hold our fifth annual Family Fun Day this Saturday 10/18.  There is now a public facebook page for the event that has news and pictures/videos from past workshops.  We'd love you to like the page and share it on your wall.  If you'd like to speak on the adult panel, please contact me.  Happy fall!

July 2014 Meeting is Cancelled

As many of you know, my husband and I were in DC for the National Stuttering Association conference last week.  My husband works for UNCG and gets our meeting space for us.  When he returned to work this morning, he found out that many of the rooms in the building we meet in (including our meeting room) are being closed while they repaint and change the carpet in them.  Unfortunately, this means that we lost our meeting space for tomorrow night.  This is a huge bummer because I really wanted to share our conference experience, but I guess it will have to wait for next month.  We do have the room reserved for August 12th from 7-8:30pm.  If anyone can propose an alternate meeting space as a last minute solution, I am open to suggestions.  I apologize for the last minute cancellation.  Hope to see you in August.

June 2014 Meeting is in a Different Location- Come hang out!

Today's meeting of the NC Triad chapter of the National Stuttering Association has been moved to a different location for this month.  The UNCG student center has been taken over by their orientation program.  We will be hanging out at Panera off Wendover Avenue (near I-40) starting at 7pm.  Last month we sat in the little area by the front door and will try to do so again.  This will be a more informal meeting/social gathering due to the location.  I apologize for the late notice.  Hope to see you there!

This is our last meeting before the NSA conference in DC the first week of July.  During the conference, they hold a silent auction to raise money for the NSA.  If you are interested in contributing an item to our chapter basket for the auction, please contact me.  These baskets usually contain items from the chapter's area or are related to a theme like movies or cooking.  We are totally open to ideas right now.

February 2014 Meeting is Cancelled

Due to the potential weather situation, the NC Triad chapter of the National Stuttering Association will not meet on Tuesday 2/11/14.  As a reminder, the registration for the NSA conference in Washington D.C. this July is now open (http://www.westutter.org/annual-conference/).  It is a wonderful experience!  The NSA has a video for people considering attending for the first time at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHvPSl4bg3I.  Hope everyone stays safe and warm.
